Windows 10 Essentials

We have designed this one-day Windows 10 Essentials course for users who need to develop their basic IT skills or gain confidence when using computers. You will learn how to navigate your computer or device, and how to create, save and find your documents. You will also become familiar with Microsoft’s new browser, Microsoft Edge.

This course is available as either a private group course or a one-to-one, held either at your workplace or at Happy’s training centre. Please contact us for availability.

Course Requirements

You do not need to have any previous experience of Windows and computers.

This course is designed for users of Windows 10. We also offer this as a private group or one-to-one course for Windows 7. Please speak to your IT team if you are unsure which version of Windows you are currently using.

What You Will Learn

By the end of this one-day Windows course, you will feel confident navigating your computer or device, and creating, saving and finding documents. You will be able to customise the operating system to suit you. You will also become familiar with Microsoft’s new browser, Microsoft Edge.

Session One: Getting Started

Logging on and shutting down; Navigation techniques – mouse and touchscreen; Start Menu; Opening programmes; Managing Windows; The Taskbar

Session Two: More Features

Pinning programmes to Start or the Taskbar; Searching for files and apps; Settings; Action Centre

Session Three: Customising Windows 10 and using Microsoft Edge

(Note: if you are using Office 365 please see our Office 365 conversion course, which could be used to customise this course to include features specific to 365, including OneDrive and SharePoint.)


The course will run from 10am to 4:45pm (light cold buffet 1pm to 1:45pm). Please be careful to arrive by 9.45am for registration and refreshments. The course will start precisely on time and it may not be possible to go back over material missed by late arrivals. If you arrive over 30 minutes late you may be asked to leave and attend another day.

Maureen Egbe

Maureen joined Happy as an Associate trainee trainer in November 2012 and within two years became a Senior Trainer. As well as being a trainer, she is also an ex-athlete and athletics coach - an interest that compliments her training skills, using activities to engage delegates keeping training interesting and fun. Maureen is also an NLP Certified coach.

Ed Lepre

Ed Lepre

Ed is a Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) and has worked at Happy for over 12 years. Although he trains the full suite of MS Office and non-Office packages at all levels, his favourite package is Excel. A previous winner of the prestigious Learning and Performance Institute's 'Learning Professional of the Year' award, as well as other training accolades, he is also the IT Helpline Manager.
