How to Use Skype for Business

By the end of this 90-minute course, you will be confident using Skype for Business to instant message and video call your colleagues. You will be able to:

  • Sign in
  • Set your presence (and will know why it is important)
  • Use Instant Messenger (IM)
  • Make voice and video calls

Voice and Video Meetings in Skype for Business

One of the key features of Skype for Business is setting up voice and video meetings, and using screen sharing. By the end of this 90-minute course, you will be able to:

  • Set up and host a Skype for Business meeting with either just audio or with audio and video
  • You will be able to share screens to work collaboratively with others

Interactive Meetings with Skype for Business

By the end of this 90-minute course, you will know how to use the tools in Skype for Business to facilitate more effective, interactive meetings, presentations and webinars. The course will cover:

  • Reasons to use Skype for Business
  • Share your screen and pass control to others
  • Control participants' microphones
  • Use IM as an alternative to audio in large meetings and presentations
  • Share files
  • Setting meeting options to allow attendees to participate
  • Using the Whiteboard

The Small Print

The course will run remotely for 90 minutes. 

All learners will need to install Zoom on their machines. Full technical requirements are on the Zoom website. Your link will be included in your joining instructions once you have booked your place — if you haven't received this email then please contact our team.

Learners should log into the training session 10 minutes before the start time to ensure that they have downloaded and set up Zoom correctly. The course will start precisely on time and it may not be possible to go back over material missed by late arrivals.

Your active participation is expected: everyone will be heard and seen throughout, just as they would be if we were in a room together. To be heard, hear and seen you will need a microphone, speakers and camera – if you have a modern laptop that’s all you will need. Remember, you’ll need a quiet place to call from and a decent internet connection is a must.
