The results are in: Happy has made the 2024 Sunday Times Best Places to Work list! To be successfully accredited as a Sunday Times Best Place to Work, organisations must achieve a minimum 70% overall engagement score – and Happy achieved 96%!

I once asked a panel of Deans of MBA programmes why they focused so much on strategy and finance and not so much on people. The response from Roger Martin, then Dean of the Rotman School of Management, was "we do the easy stuff." Our Level 7 Senior Leadership Apprenticeship programme, the equivalent of a post-graduate degree or MBA, is different. Happy provides a Level 3 programme for first-time managers, team leaders and supervisors, a Level 5 programme for more experienced managers and department leaders, and a Level 7 programme designed for senior leaders who want to make a real cultural change in their workplace. These programmes have a focus on trusting your people and creating a culture of self-management. They are funded by the Apprenticeship Levy.

I’m now back from my sabbatical and, while I was away, our people at Happy decided to make the four-day week (currently a six-month pilot) permanent. It has been a remarkable success. In this blog I talk about the key results of the survey that informed the decision to go permanent.
