Clean Language for Managers
Misunderstandings are a common source of wasted time and effort at work, often leading to irritation and even conflict.
In this one-day workshop you will develop your ability to find out what people actually mean by what they say, so that you can build stronger working relationships. This can be especially useful when working with people who are different from you: for example, with much younger or much older colleagues, or those from different cultural backgrounds.
As this is new to our programme, we are currently offering this one-day workshop at the special introductory price of £195 per person, or £95 per person for charities with less than 15 members of paid staff.
What you will learn
In this one-day workshop, you will learn to understand more people, more of the time – even people who are very unlike you.
The workshop introduces a precision inquiry methodology, Clean Language (devised by the late David Grove) and is taught by a co-author of the best-known book on this topic, Judy Rees.
You will learn how to:
- Guide attention precisely using specific questions, so that you get more accurate and more useful information
- Adjust your own focus to maximise the value of the information you receive
- Use metaphor as a window into someone’s inner world, so that you can see what’s behind what they say and do
- Spot the seed of a misunderstanding and act to stop it taking root.

The Small Print
The course will run from 10am to 4:30pm (lunch is served 1pm to 1:45pm — we offer a choice of 3 cold bowl dishes). Please be careful to arrive by 9.45am for registration and refreshments. The course will start precisely on time and it may not be possible to go back over material missed by late arrivals. If you arrive over 30 minutes late you may be asked to leave and attend another day.

Due to current government guidelines we have temporarily closed our training centre in London. All of our staff are now working remotely, and all classroom training has been postponed until 29th May.
We have developed a fantastic range of interactive webinars delivered by our experienced facilitators, Live Online Learning. We understand that for many people this will be the first time that they have worked from home and so we have developed short 1.5-2 hour sessions to help you adjust to this new situation.
