QuickBooks Essentials

QuickBooks, the accounting software for small and medium sized businesses, has been designed to help you easily organise your accounts, raise invoices and make payments. In this one-day course, you will learn how to use all of the essential features to get you started, including how to generate a VAT return.

What you will learn

In particular you will be able to:

  • Set up a QuickBooks company to deal with your accounts
  • Set up the company information and enter the opening balances
  • Work with your chart of accounts
  • Set up and maintain your Customer and Supplier accounts
  • Create invoices and statements
  • Deal with money received by your company and entering and paying of bills
  • Process other bank payments and receipts and petty cash
  • View information on basic accounts reports and to keep track of your company’s VAT
  • Understand the significance of the reporting structure
  • Use the reports more fully to filter and customise to your own needs
  • Understand the implications of recording VAT on your accounts
  • Prepare a VAT return using QuickBooks
  • Set up and use the reminders within QuickBooks

The Small Print

For Live Online Interactive Learning sessions (webinars)

The course will run remotely for a full day consisting of three 90-minute live online sessions with independent work in between. 

All learners will need to either install GoToTraining on their machines or use the Web App in a browser (either Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge are supported). Full technical requirements are on the GoTo websiteYour link will be included in your joining instructions once you have booked your place — if you haven't received this email then please contact our team.

Learners should log into the training session 10 minutes before the start time to ensure that they have downloaded and set up GoTo correctly. The course will start precisely on time and it may not be possible to go back over material missed by late arrivals.

Your active participation is expected: everyone will be heard and seen throughout, just as they would be if we were in a room together. To be heard, hear and seen you will need a microphone, speakers and camera – if you have a modern laptop that’s all you will need. Remember, you’ll need a quiet place to call from and a decent internet connection is a must.

For classroom sessions

The course will run from 10am to 4:45pm (lunch is served 1pm to 1:45pm — we offer a choice of 3 cold bowl dishes). Please be careful to arrive by 9:45am for registration and refreshments. The course will start precisely on time and it may not be possible to go back over material missed by late arrivals. If you arrive over 30 minutes late you may be asked to leave and attend another day.

Coronavirus Update

Due to current government guidelines we have temporarily closed our training centre in London. All of our staff are now working remotely, and all classroom training has been postponed while we await further guidance.
