We are delighted to invite you to our 2016 Happy Open Day.

On 13th July, Happy is hosting a series of free 1 hour workshops throughout the day from our Happy People, Happy Computers and eLearning programmes to give you a taster of what we offer.

We have limited places left on each of the workshops, and places are restricted to up to two workshops per person – so make sure you RSVP as soon as possible to avoid disappointment!

All workshops are ticketed so please make sure you RSVP in advance – our Happy Computers sessions are restricted to up to 8 people and our Happy People and eLearning sessions are restricted to up to 12 people. We’re expecting a lot of demand so make sure you book early to avoid disappointment!

Please note: all Happy Computers sessions will be run in Office 2013 but (aside from Office 365) the features are available in 2010 and 2016 in much the same way so it will be suitable for most users.

Introduction to Mindfulness (fully booked)

This one hour session will introduce the concept of mindfulness and will give you basic enable you to use simple practices for more creative and compassionate thinking in the workplace.

You will learn:

– how our minds often operate in automatic pilot, creating habitual patterns of behaviour

– you will try a simple body scan

How to Create Happy Workplaces (2 spaces left)

Learn key lessons from the world’s great workplaces in this one hour session with Henry Stewart. Be challenged, explore different ways of working and leave with actions you can put in place straight away.

We will cover:

– How a focus on happy employees can drive business results – the framework that makes this happen

– Discover when people work at their best, and simple steps to enable that

– How to increase trust and ownership, within clear guidelines

– What Google found are the most important management behaviours

– How to create a structure where the right people are managing

– How to play to your people’s strengths to boost engagement and productivity through the business

Use Skype for Business to Manage your Communications

This session is for anyone who has, or is thinking of, moving to Office 365. This session will give you an overview of what Skype for business can do and how it links to your Outlook calendar and mailbox. You’ll need to be confident using a mouse and keyboard and navigating between windows.

We will cover:

– The importance of Presence and using your calendar

– Instant Messaging, Phone and Video calls to one or more people

– Setting up a Skype Meeting

– Benefits – how can Skype for Business help you to change the way you work?

Excel tables – data made easy!

For anyone who analyses data.  Find out how Excel tables can make that process easier.  You’ll need to be confident at basic spreadsheet creation and a familiarity with formulas would be useful.

We will cover:

– Turning a data table into an Excel Table and name it

– How calculations work in Excel Tables

– Adding data and changing the layout of the table (header rows, totals etc..)

– Sorting and filtering

– Basing a Pivot Table on a Table

PowerPoint: Master Slides for consistency and a great look

This session is for learners who can already create PowerPoint slides and change their layout.  You will learn the importance of Master Slides for consistent formatting across a slide deck and you will be able to create your own set of Masters that dictate the Themes, colours, fonts and positions of elements on the page. You’ll also be able to add a logo or other image.

Introduction to Resilience (fully booked)

This one hour session with Paul Gapper will look at resilience and wellbeing in the workplace. Paul will introduce basic techniques to enable you to work with changes and overcome setbacks at work, including the ten principles of resilience and how to create a breathing space.

Introduction to Collaborative Hiring

Following the BBC2 series ‘Who’s the Boss’, find out more about Collaborative Hiring in this seminar. Henry was a Consultant on the TV series so is the best person to speak to about how collaborative hiring can work for you.

– Discover how to use collaborative hiring in your workplace

– What the research finds are the most effective techniques

– How to “hire for attitude, train for skills”

– Identify the key characteristics you need

– How to test for ability to learn and develop, and being a team player

Office 365 vs Google Apps for Work (1 place left)

For anyone who is thinking of moving onto a Cloud based system. This session will provide some comparison information and give you an overview of the main differences between and benefits of the systems. The session will be a basic introduction for those starting out on the decision-making process, it may not be suitable for IT Managers who will need something more complex.

Excel Dashboard in an Hour (1 place left)

Learn how to create interactive dashboards in Microsoft Excel to display key information in this one hour session with Darren Andrews. Dashboard can save hours of time – no longer will you and your team need to create complex reports, and you can see all your key metrics at a quick glance.

This session is designed for more advanced Excel users – we recommend this for confident users who have already completed our Excel Core Level 2 course.

eLearning: From Formal to Informal

Formal eLearning is usually twinned to a Learning Management System (LMS) with a formally structured course and curricula, and developing these programmes is a long and complex process. Informal eLearning is much more flexible, without the restrictions of an LMS, and allows learners to study at their own pace or ‘on the go’.

In this one hour session, Lucy Blake, Head of eLearning at Happy, will discuss the shift towards informal eLearning programmes and the benefits to your business.
