This course is for Anyone who wants to create a web site without technical skills, whether for personal use or for your organisation.

Learners should be confident in using Windows and familiar with using the web.

Session 1

Web site basics: Exploring WordPress sites around the web.
Getting started: Creating a basic web site in WordPress.
WordPress basics: Different versions. Hosting options.

Session 2

Design: Selecting themes, colours.
Adding & editing content; Adding images. Managing comments and trackbacks, Using templates. Bookmarks, archives and categories.
Navigational structure.

Session 3

Administration: Basic dashboard settings, Managing authors and users.
Widgets: Adding Search, Stats, RSS feeds, Twitter etc.

Session 4

Optimising your site: Planting keywords, Optimising titles, Attracting search engines.
Other WordPress options: Plugins etc.

The ‘Small Print’

The course will run from 10am to 4:45pm (light cold buffet 1pm to 1:45pm). Please be careful to arrive by 9.45am for registration and refreshments. The course will start precisely on time and it may not be possible to go back over material missed by late arrivals. If you arrive over 30 minutes late you may be asked to leave and attend another day.
