MS Expression Web Intermediate

Anyone who has used Expression Web to create a basic webpage and would like to progress their skills.

Aims

By the end of the course, you will be confident in speeding up editing your webpage through the use of templates and layouts and XML files, you will also be able to animate a webpage.

What you will learn

In particular you will be able to:

  • Use new font families in your website.
  • Apply a simple transition to animate the way your pages are loaded on the screen.
  • Use CSS layouts to position data on your page.

  • Save the look you want as a Template to re-use.
  • Create and use XML files to easily update information
    .


 

Requirements

Delegates must be able to create a basic web page using expression web, including links and images. It is preferable that you come to the course with an idea of how you would like your website to look.


 

Timetable

Session 1

Recap of Essential information, Add new Font Families, Target Frames and screen tips, Page Transitions.

Session 2

Use existing CSS layout sheets for your page, Edit a CSS layout sheet, Changing the CSS body tags location

Session 3

Recap on using dynamic templates, Creating your dynamic template, Defining the editable regions, Creating pages based on your DWT page, Update your DWT page.

Session 4

Insert an XML data source in your website, Update the XML file, Format the XML data on your page, Filter the information on your site.

The ‘Small Print’

The course will run from 10am to 4:45pm (light cold buffet 1pm to 1:45pm). Please be careful to arrive by 9.45am for registration and refreshments. The course will start precisely on time and it may not be possible to go back over material missed by late arrivals. If you arrive over 30 minutes late you may be asked to leave and attend another day.
