This course is for anyone who is familiar with using the Internet and navigating websites, and who wants to create their own website.
Aims
By the end of the course, you will be confident in using Dreamweaver to create and upload a website that includes several pages, images and at least one form.
What you will learn
In particular you will be able to:
- Create web pages.
- Add images and text to your pages.
- Create internal and external links on your pages.
- Create standardized formatting to use across your website (CSS).
- Use the CS3 Preset styles for layout.
- Create a form on your site to gather data.
- Speed up the creation of a website by using templates.
- Upload your site to the web.
Requirements
Delegates must be very confident in using Windows and a mouse and with using Internet Explorer or another browser. They should be advanced word processor users.
Timetable
Day One
Session 1
Creating a site, Saving and naming pages, Viewing pages in the browser, Changing page and text properties.
Session 2
Internal, external and email links.
Session 3
Internal and External CSS.
Session 4
Types of image files, Getting images from the web, Alt text, Linking images, Image maps, Rollovers, Flash text.
Day Two
Session 5
Using CS3’s preset layouts, editing parts of the layouts, placing images, transferring styles to external style sheets.
Session 6
Creating forms, Data capture, Testing forms.
Session 7
Creating templates, Setting editable regions, Editing templates, Creating library items, Inserting library items onto a page.
Session 8
Using the site manager; Uploading your website, Checking files in and out, Synchronising local and remote files.
The ‘Small Print’
The course will run from 10am to 4:45pm (light cold buffet 1pm to 1:45pm). Please be careful to arrive by 9.45am for registration and refreshments. The course will start precisely on time and it may not be possible to go back over material missed by late arrivals. If you arrive over 30 minutes late you may be asked to leave and attend another day.
