This course is for Anyone who is familiar with the basics of using Dreamweaver and/or has attended Dreamweaver Essentials.
Aims
By the end of the course, you will be confident in using the more advanced features of Dreamweaver on a website.
What you will learn
In particular you will be able to:
- Work with Tables, AP divs and CSS to layout a webpage.
- Use CSS to speed up formatting.
- Understand and use Behaviours.
- Use the new Spry features of CS3 to easily make different types of menus.
- Use Timelines to animate elements on your webpage.
- Download and install Dreamweaver Extensions.
- Have a greater understanding of Search Engines and create Meta tags.
Requirements
Delegates must be confident in using Windows and a mouse.

Day One
Session 1
Creating tables, Adding and formatting content, Selecting; Adjusting Column widths, Merging / Splitting Cells, Creating, moving and resizing AP divs, Changing Stacking Order, Renaming AP divs, Showing and Hiding AP divs, AP divs with relative widths, Overflow and Overlapping AP divs.
Session 2
HTML basics, Cascading Style Sheets, The CSS Panel, Creating and Using Internal and External Style Sheets, Referencing External Style Sheets, Creating Custom Styles.
Session 3
Understanding the Preset Layouts, Using and Editing the Preset Layouts.
Session 4
Gaining a deeper knowledge of CSS, Working with div tags, Creating Positioning Rules, Editing CSS.
Day Two
Session 5
The Behaviours panel, Common Behaviours, Objects for Behaviours, Faking a link, Setting Browser Compatibility, Making a Layer movable, Using Set Text in Layers, Setting text in the Status Bar, Using Show-Hide Layers, Swapping Images.
Session 6
Creating a Spry Menu Bar, Spry Tabbed Panels, Spry Accordion and Spry Drop down menu, Formatting Spry Menu Layouts.
Session 7
Access Macromedia Exchange, Download the Extension Manager, Download and Install a new Extension, Understanding Timelines, Adding a new AP div to a Timeline, Understanding Keyframes, Recording the path of an AP div.
Session 8
Getting noticed by search engines, The Keywords Meta tag, The Description Meta tag, Meta tag guidelines, Usability, Accessibility.
The ‘Small Print’
The course will run from 10am to 4:45pm (light cold buffet 1pm to 1:45pm). Please be careful to arrive by 9.45am for registration and refreshments. The course will start precisely on time and it may not be possible to go back over material missed by late arrivals. If you arrive over 30 minutes late you may be asked to leave and attend another day.
