Creating and Analysing an Online Survey

This course is for anyone who wants to create an online survey, and collect and analyse the responses.

Aims

By the end of the course you will be able to set up an online survey in under an hour, using SurveyMonkey. (SurveyMonkey is online software that is free for small surveys and £200 a year for an unlimited number of large surveys.)

What you will learn

In particular you will be able to:

  • Set up a basic online survey and distribute to your target users in under an hour (often under 30 minutes).
  • Create text, numeric and multiple choice questions.
  • Print the survey & manually enter written responses.
  • Distribute the survey by email or on the web site.
  • Make some questions dependent on answers to previous questions.
  • Understand which type of questions are useful and which are not.
  • Use the Address Book to manage and monitor responses.
  • Produce a summary report & use filters and crosstabs to analyse.
  • Export the results for a summary in Word, or for further analysis in Excel.

Requirements

Delegates must be confident in using the internet and have basic knowledge of Excel.

Good practice & Using the Question Bank.
Moving and copying questions; Conditional questions.
Settings: Single/multiple use; Exit.

Session 3

Advanced Features & Detailed Reporting
Using the Address Book: Importing emails;
Creating & sending emails; follow-up emails; using fields;
Filter responses; Crosstab analysis; Download responses;

Session 4

Exporting the Results
Exporting to Word & Formatting;
Exporting to Excel: Automating the analysis; Useful Excel functions;

The ‘Small Print’

The course will run from 10am to 4:45pm (light cold buffet 1pm to 1:45pm). Please be careful to arrive by 9.45am for registration and refreshments. The course will start precisely on time and it may not be possible to go back over material missed by late arrivals. If you arrive over 30 minutes late you may be asked to leave and attend another day.
