Project 2010 Intermediate

This course is for anyone who is confident at using Project for creating projects with assigned resources, basic tracking and project updating.

Aims

By the end of the course you will be able to use some of Projects advanced features to effectively plan, track and review a projects tasks, resources and costs.

What you will learn

In particular you will be able to:

  • Speed up and organise you project with macros and custom fields.
  • Manage your resources overtime, costs, assignments etc.
  • Create combined views for more comprehensive overviews.
  • Review tracking strategies to keep on top of your project.

  • Track task and resource costs.
  • Link MS Project to other programs.
  • Work with multiple projects and share resources.


Requirements

Delegates must be confident in using a keyboard, Windows and a mouse. Additionally you must be familiar with creating a Gantt chart, creating task relationships and creating and assigning resources.

Session 2

Resource allocation, Entering resource costs, Entering Overtime, Scheduled increases in resource costs, Different rates for the same resource, Delaying a resources working times.

Session 3

Tracking Strategies, Recording Actuals, Tracking costs, Tracking work, Rescheduling work, Linking project to Excel.

Session 4

Consolidating projects, Sharing resources in consolidated projects, Creating links across projects.

The ‘Small Print’

The course will run from 10am to 4:45pm (light cold buffet 1pm to 1:45pm). Please be careful to arrive by 9.45am for registration and refreshments. The course will start precisely on time and it may not be possible to go back over material missed by late arrivals. If you arrive over 30 minutes late you may be asked to leave and attend another day.
