Microsoft Business Certification Excel 2007 (MOS)

This course is for anyone who is an experienced Excel user who would like to certify their skills.

Aims

By the end of the course you will be confident in using the features of Excel needed to pass the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) exam taken at the end of day 2.

  • Alter the view of your worksheet.

Format data and Content

  • Format worksheets.
  • Insert and alter rows and columns.
  • Format cells to make them stand out, and alter cell formats e.g. number.
  • Formats such as percentages or currency.
  • Format data so it appears as a table.

Create and Modify Formulae

  • Reference data in formulae.
  • Summarise data using a formula.
  • Summarise data using subtotals.
  • Conditionally summarise data by using a formula.
  • Use Lookup functions.
  • Create calculations based on conditions.
  • Format or modify text by using formulae.
  • Display and print formulae.

Present Data Visually

  • Create, format and modify charts.
  • Apply formatting based on a condition.
  • Insert and modify pictures and shapes.
  • Outline data in order to show or hide detail of a summarised worksheet.
  • Sort and filter data to extract specific information.

Collaborate and Secure Data

  • Manage changes to workbooks.
  • Protect and share workbooks.
  • Prepare workbooks for distribution.
  • Save Workbooks.
  • Set print options for printing data, worksheets and workbooks.

Requirements

Delegates must be confident in using a keyboard, Windows and a mouse, and must have used Excel before and be confident in using formulae.


Timetable

Day 1

Day one will consist of training sessions with exercises. At the end of day one there is a practice workshop to test the skills you have learned during the day.

Day 2

Day two continues with training in the morning. After lunch there is a practice workshop where you have the opportunity to test your knowledge and complete a full mock exam. The final exam will be taken at the end of the day.

The course will run from 10am to 4:45pm (light cold buffet 1pm to 1:45pm). Please be careful to arrive by 9.45am for registration and refreshments. The course will start precisely on time and it may not be possible to go back over material missed by late arrivals. If you arrive over 30 minutes late you may be asked to leave and attend another day.
