PowerPoint 2013/2016 Core Level 1: Taught in BSL

By the end of the course, you will be confident in using the essential features of PowerPoint 2013 and 2016 to create and alter simple Presentation Slides. This course is for anyone who has never used PowerPoint before, and is suitable for PC users only.

Please note: this course is aimed at delegates who use BSL (British Sign Language) or SSE (Sign Supported English) as their language and is taught by our Deaf trainer in BSL.

Course Requirements

Delegates must be confident in using a mouse and keyboard, as well as being fluent in BSL. This course is for PC users of PowerPoint 2013 and 2016, and can also be tailored for users of PowerPoint 2007/2010.

What You Will Learn

In particular you will be able to:

  • Create and save a new presentation.
  • View your presentation in different ways.
  • View the master slide and make changes that are reflected throughout the entire presentation.
  • Change the background colour and colour scheme for an existing template.
  • Add pictures to your presentation.
  • Use the drawing tools to add shapes or to create your own pictures.
  • Enhance your presentation by adding special effects to your slides, text and pictures.

Session 1

What is PowerPoint, Creating a New Presentation, Understanding normal view, Adding text to slides, Adding new slides, Moving around, Outline View, Adding Speaker’s notes.

Session 2

Slide Sorter View, Design Templates, Changing the Colour Scheme and Background, Master Slides, Formatting Text, Changing the Bullets, Page Setup, Printing.

Session 3

Inserting ClipArt, Using the ClipArt Toolbar, Drawing on your Slides, Using WordArt.

Session 4

Slide Show View, Slide Transition, Animation Effects.

 

Please note that while this course covers PowerPoint 2016, it is not an Office 365 and working in the Cloud course (although it does mention working in the Cloud). The course will run from 10am to 4:45pm (light cold buffet 1pm to 1:45pm). Please be careful to arrive by 9.45am for registration and refreshments. The course will start precisely on time and it may not be possible to go back over material missed by late arrivals. If you arrive over 30 minutes late you may be asked to leave and attend another day.
